Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground beef – 80/20 blend for best flavor
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs – Plain or seasoned
  • 1 Egg – Beaten
  • 1 Onion – Finely diced
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon Butter – Salted or unsalted
  • 3 tablespoon All-purpose flour – For thickening gravy
  • 2 cups Beef broth – Low sodium preferred
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion – Sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 6-8 oval patties.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the patties on both sides until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream. Add sliced onions and garlic powder, simmer until gravy thickens.
  6. Place cooked hamburger steaks in a greased baking dish. Pour creamy gravy over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and slightly golden.
  8. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides. Enjoy!
