Ingredients
- 2 lbs Ground beef – 80/20 blend for best flavor
- ½ cup Breadcrumbs – Plain or seasoned
- 1 Egg – Beaten
- 1 Onion – Finely diced
- 2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- 3 tablespoon Butter – Salted or unsalted
- 3 tablespoon All-purpose flour – For thickening gravy
- 2 cups Beef broth – Low sodium preferred
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion – Sliced
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 6-8 oval patties.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the patties on both sides until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream. Add sliced onions and garlic powder, simmer until gravy thickens.
- Place cooked hamburger steaks in a greased baking dish. Pour creamy gravy over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and slightly golden.
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides. Enjoy!
