Description
Applebee’s Chicken Wonton Tacos are a flavorful appetizer or light meal featuring tender chicken, crisp wonton shells, and a sweet-savory slaw, finished with sesame seeds and cilantro.
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
- 1 bag coleslaw mix
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (for slaw)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (for slaw)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 16 wonton wrappers
- Sweet chili sauce, for serving
- Chopped cilantro, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken, garlic, and ginger, cooking until chicken is cooked through.
- Stir in hoisin sauce and soy sauce. Cook 1–2 minutes until well coated. Remove from heat.
- In a bowl, mix coleslaw, green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey to create slaw.
- Place wonton wrappers on the baking sheet. Lightly spray with cooking oil and bake for 5–7 minutes until crispy.
- Fill baked wontons with cooked chicken and top with slaw.
- Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Wonton shells can be baked ahead of time and stored in an airtight container to keep crispy.
- Adjust sweetness and spice by varying honey and sweet chili sauce.
- Perfect as an appetizer for parties or a light dinner.
