Description

Applebee’s Chicken Wonton Tacos are a flavorful appetizer or light meal featuring tender chicken, crisp wonton shells, and a sweet-savory slaw, finished with sesame seeds and cilantro.


Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 bag coleslaw mix
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for slaw)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for slaw)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 16 wonton wrappers
  • Sweet chili sauce, for serving
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken, garlic, and ginger, cooking until chicken is cooked through.
  3. Stir in hoisin sauce and soy sauce. Cook 1–2 minutes until well coated. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, mix coleslaw, green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey to create slaw.
  5. Place wonton wrappers on the baking sheet. Lightly spray with cooking oil and bake for 5–7 minutes until crispy.
  6. Fill baked wontons with cooked chicken and top with slaw.
  7. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Wonton shells can be baked ahead of time and stored in an airtight container to keep crispy.
  • Adjust sweetness and spice by varying honey and sweet chili sauce.
