Ingredients

  • 1 lb Breakfast sausage
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 4 oz Sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp Heavy cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook breakfast sausage in a skillet until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in cooked sausage and shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit batter into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Drizzle heavy cream over the top of the biscuits.
  9. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Serve warm, ideally with extra butter or syrup if desired.
