Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
  • 2 ยฝ cups biscuit mix (like Bisquick)
  • 1 cup water
  • Cooking spray (like Pam)
  • ยฝ cup sour cream
  • ยฝ cup mayonnaise
  • 4 ounces diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 ยฝ cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ยฝ cup mild salsa


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and garlic powder. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, green chiles, salsa, and 1 cup shredded cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine biscuit mix and water to form a soft dough.
  6. Press biscuit dough into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  7. Spread beef mixture evenly over dough.
  8. Spread creamy mixture on top, then sprinkle remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 30โ€“35 minutes until golden and set.
  10. Let cool 5โ€“10 minutes before slicing and serving.
