Description
Chicken Gloria is a decadent, creamy chicken dish made with tender chicken breasts, sautéed mushrooms, garlic, a splash of sherry, rich cream, and melted Muenster cheese. This elegant yet simple recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor right at home.
Ingredients
- 3 large chicken breasts
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Flour for dredging + 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoons butter (1/2 stick), divided
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup dry sherry
- 1.5 cups heavy/whipping cream
- 6 slices Muenster cheese
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper, then dredge lightly in flour.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Sear chicken until golden on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining butter to the skillet. Sauté mushrooms and garlic until tender.
- Pour in sherry and cook 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Add heavy cream and remaining 2 tablespoons flour, whisking to combine. Simmer until slightly thickened.
- Return chicken to the skillet, nestle slices of Muenster cheese on top, and cover. Simmer 5–7 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted.
- Serve warm, spooning creamy sauce and mushrooms over chicken.
Notes
- Use low-sodium chicken stock if you prefer a lighter sauce.
- Substitute Gruyère or Swiss cheese if Muenster is unavailable.
- Pair with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
