Description

Chicken Gloria is a decadent, creamy chicken dish made with tender chicken breasts, sautéed mushrooms, garlic, a splash of sherry, rich cream, and melted Muenster cheese. This elegant yet simple recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor right at home.


Ingredients

  • 3 large chicken breasts
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Flour for dredging + 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter (1/2 stick), divided
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry sherry
  • 1.5 cups heavy/whipping cream
  • 6 slices Muenster cheese


Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then dredge lightly in flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Sear chicken until golden on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining butter to the skillet. Sauté mushrooms and garlic until tender.
  4. Pour in sherry and cook 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Add heavy cream and remaining 2 tablespoons flour, whisking to combine. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, nestle slices of Muenster cheese on top, and cover. Simmer 5–7 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted.
  7. Serve warm, spooning creamy sauce and mushrooms over chicken.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium chicken stock if you prefer a lighter sauce.
  • Substitute Gruyère or Swiss cheese if Muenster is unavailable.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
