Description

This Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo is a quick, healthy, and flavorful meal that comes together in one pan. Tender orzo, savory chicken sausage, and crisp broccoli are cooked in a light, garlicky broth and finished with Parmesan for a creamy, satisfying dinner everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 ½ cups orzo pasta
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the chicken sausage over medium heat until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the orzo pasta to the pan and toast lightly for 1–2 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 8–10 minutes until orzo is nearly cooked.
  5. Stir in the broccoli florets and cooked sausage. Continue to cook for 3–4 minutes, until broccoli is tender and the orzo is creamy.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a creamier texture, stir in a splash of milk or cream before serving.
