Description

This Chicken Sausage Broccoli Orzo is a cozy one-pot meal featuring tender orzo pasta, savory chicken sausage, fresh broccoli, and a sprinkle of Parmesan for a quick and hearty dinner.


Ingredients

  • Pasta
    2 cups orzo pasta
  • Proteins
    1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
  • Vegetables
    2 cups broccoli florets
    3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Liquids
    4 cups chicken broth
    1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Seasonings
    1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    Salt, to taste
    Black pepper, to taste
  • Cheese & Garnish
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add garlic to the same skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in orzo pasta and toast for 1 minute. Pour in chicken broth and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add broccoli florets during the last 3 minutes of cooking and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Return cooked sausage to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook until the orzo is tender and the broth is mostly absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, and serve warm.

  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving for extra brightness.
