This Cinnamon Donut Bread Delight combines the cozy flavors of a classic donut with the ease of a quick bread. It’s sweet, moist, and bursting with cinnamon—perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a comforting afternoon treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the layer, then top with the remaining batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the topping cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle over the top of the batter.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Optionally drizzle with powdered sugar glaze once cooled.
Notes
- For a deeper cinnamon flavor, swirl some extra cinnamon-sugar mixture into the middle layer.
- You can substitute sour cream for buttermilk in a pinch.
- Wrap leftovers tightly and store at room temperature for up to 3 days.
