Description

This Cinnamon Donut Bread Delight combines the cozy flavors of a classic donut with the ease of a quick bread. It’s sweet, moist, and bursting with cinnamon—perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a comforting afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the layer, then top with the remaining batter.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the topping cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Optionally drizzle with powdered sugar glaze once cooled.

Notes

  • For a deeper cinnamon flavor, swirl some extra cinnamon-sugar mixture into the middle layer.
  • You can substitute sour cream for buttermilk in a pinch.
  • Wrap leftovers tightly and store at room temperature for up to 3 days.
