Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes (canned)
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker. Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Add broken lasagna noodles to the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  5. Cover and cook on Low for 6–7 hours or High for 3–4 hours, until noodles are tender.
  6. Stir in ricotta cheese and shredded mozzarella just before serving, mixing until creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.
