Ingredients
- 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp salt
- 4 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp freshly ground nutmeg
- 2 tsp ground thyme
- 2 tsp ground sage
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 4 eggs
- 8 tbsp water
- Canola oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- Butterfly each chicken breast to create thinner, even pieces. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, ginger, nutmeg, thyme, sage, cayenne, and paprika.
- In a second bowl, whisk eggs with water.
- Dredge chicken in flour mixture, dip into egg wash, then dredge again in flour for a double coating.
- Heat canola oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken until golden and crispy, about 6–7 minutes per side. Remove and drain.
- In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, and black pepper. Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add fried chicken to the sauce, turning to coat evenly. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crunch, let breaded chicken rest 5 minutes before frying.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to control heat level.
- Pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
