Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for topping
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add egg, vanilla extract, and milk, mixing to form a smooth dough.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Spread softened cream cheese evenly over the dough.
  6. Fold dough into thirds and cut into squares or rectangles.
  7. Place pieces on baking sheet and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  8. Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes until golden brown and flaky.

Notes

  • Use cold butter to ensure flaky layers.
  • For extra sweetness, drizzle with a simple glaze made of powdered sugar and milk.
