Description

These Crispy Chicken Bites are coated in cornstarch, fried to perfection, and tossed in a sweet and savory sauce made from soy sauce, hoisin, garlic, ginger, and a hint of sesame. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish, theyโ€™re flavorful, tender, and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces (Best choice for lean results)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (Provides a crisp coating)
  • 2 eggs, beaten (For coating the chicken)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (Base for the sauce)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup sugar (Can be swapped for honey or maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, coat chicken pieces with cornstarch, then dip in beaten eggs.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, chicken broth, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Toss cooked chicken in the sauce until well coated.
  5. Serve immediately with rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double coat chicken in cornstarch and egg.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar or honey.
  • Can be made gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
