Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces (Best choice for lean results)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (Provides a crisp coating)
- 2 eggs, beaten (For coating the chicken)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (Base for the sauce)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup sugar (Can be swapped for honey or maple syrup)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
Instructions
- In a bowl, coat chicken pieces with cornstarch, then dip in beaten eggs.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, chicken broth, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer until slightly thickened.
- Toss cooked chicken in the sauce until well coated.
- Serve immediately with rice or vegetables.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double coat chicken in cornstarch and egg.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar or honey.
