Ingredients

  • Cookies:
    • 1 cup butter at cool room temperature
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 large egg

    • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Royal Icing:
    • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
    • 2 ¼ tablespoons warm water
    • 1 tablespoon meringue powder
    • ¼ teaspoon clear flavor extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. Whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients until a dough forms.
  5. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut into mummy shapes using cookie cutters.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on wire racks.
  7. Prepare royal icing by mixing powdered sugar, water, meringue powder, and flavor extract until smooth.
  8. Pipe the icing onto cooled cookies to create mummy wraps and add eyes with icing or candy eyes.
