  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a touch of heat)
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  2. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine.
  4. Add penne pasta, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked and sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
  6. Add Parmesan cheese, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and stir until creamy.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving warm.
