Description

Open Face Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes are a quick and comforting twist on the classic sandwich. Savory ground beef simmered in a tangy sauce is piled onto crispy garlic Texas toast and topped with melted cheddar cheese for an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 6 slices frozen garlic Texas toast
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to package instructions and bake the garlic Texas toast until golden and crispy.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5โ€“7 minutes until thickened.
  4. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over each slice of garlic toast.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if using.
  6. Return to oven for 2โ€“3 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Swap cheddar for mozzarella or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
  • These also work great as party appetizers when cut into halves or thirds.
