Open Face Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes are a quick and comforting twist on the classic sandwich. Savory ground beef simmered in a tangy sauce is piled onto crispy garlic Texas toast and topped with melted cheddar cheese for an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 6 slices frozen garlic Texas toast
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven according to package instructions and bake the garlic Texas toast until golden and crispy.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5โ7 minutes until thickened.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over each slice of garlic toast.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if using.
- Return to oven for 2โ3 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- Swap cheddar for mozzarella or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
- These also work great as party appetizers when cut into halves or thirds.
