Ingredients

  • Casserole:
  • 1 lb sourdough or French bread, cut into chunks
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • ยฝ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ยฝ cup granulated sugar
  • ยผ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1ยฝ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 6โ€“7 medium bananas, chopped
  • Streusel Topping:
  • ยพ cup all-purpose flour
  • ยพ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ยฝ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces


Instructions

  1. Grease a 9ร—13-inch baking dish and spread bread chunks evenly inside.
  2. Scatter chopped bananas evenly over the bread.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  4. Pour custard mixture evenly over bread and bananas. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  6. In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle streusel evenly over the casserole.
  8. Bake uncovered for 45โ€“55 minutes until golden and set.
  9. Let cool 5โ€“10 minutes before serving.
