Description

This Pretzel Chicken with Mustard-Cheddar Sauce Delight brings together the irresistible crunch of pretzel-coated chicken with a creamy, tangy mustard-cheddar sauce. Perfect for a comforting dinner with bold flavor and texture.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup mustard-cheddar sauce
  • Mustard-Cheddar Sauce:
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with Dijon mustard, and one with crushed pretzels combined with garlic and onion powder.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, dip in the egg mixture, then coat with the crushed pretzels, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown, then transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and crispy.
  6. Meanwhile, make the mustard-cheddar sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and shredded cheddar. Stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve the crispy pretzel chicken drizzled with warm mustard-cheddar sauce and topped with fresh chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper to the pretzel coating.
  • The sauce thickens as it cools—add a splash of milk to loosen it before serving if needed.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.
