Description

This Red Lobster–style Cheese Biscuit Loaf brings the famous flavor of their cheesy garlic biscuits into a soft, buttery loaf. Perfectly golden on the outside, fluffy inside, and loaded with cheddar and garlic flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Cold Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • Topping
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix gently until combined (do not overmix).
  6. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder. Brush over the hot loaf right after baking.
  9. Let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra cheesy flavor, sprinkle additional cheddar on top before baking.
  • You can substitute buttermilk with regular milk plus 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar.
  • This loaf is best enjoyed warm but can be reheated in the oven the next day.
