Description

This Stuffed Italian Meatloaf is a hearty, flavorful twist on a classic comfort food. Filled with mozzarella and optional spinach, then topped with marinara and Parmesan, it’s perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

Meatloaf:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Filling:

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, eggs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
  3. Press half the meat mixture into the loaf pan. Layer with mozzarella, spinach, and 1/4 cup marinara sauce. Top with remaining meat mixture and press to seal.
  4. Spread 1/2 cup marinara over the top and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake for 55–65 minutes until meatloaf is cooked through and topping is golden.
  6. Remove from oven, let rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • Spinach is optional but adds extra nutrients and flavor.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches or quick lunches.
