Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 cup plain flour (King Arthur all-purpose flour recommended)
- 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- For the coating: 1 tbsp cinnamon powder, 1 cup white sugar
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and immediately stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool slightly, then beat in the egg and vanilla until fully incorporated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe or roll the dough into small bite-sized pieces and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes or until golden and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
- While still warm, toss churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking.
- Freshly ground cinnamon gives the best flavor for the coating.
- Serve with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce for an extra treat.
