Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Shape mixture into 6 equal hamburger steaks.
  4. Brown the hamburger steaks in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 2โ€“3 minutes per side. Transfer to the baking dish.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter and sautรฉ the sliced onion until softened.
  6. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
