Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
- 1/2 cup butter (113g), softened
- 2 large eggs
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (250g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the mashed bananas and milk until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
- If desired, fold in the chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread the top evenly.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use ripe or very ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- Make sure the butter is softened before mixing it with the sugar.
- Do not overmix the batter after adding the flour, as this can make the bread dense.
- Chopped walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips can be added for extra flavor and texture.
- If the top becomes too dark before the center is fully baked, loosely cover the loaf with foil during the final 10–15 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
