Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
- Salted caramel (homemade or store-bought)
- For homemade caramel:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Scoop cookie dough onto baking sheet.
- Drizzle or press a small amount of salted caramel into each cookie.
- Bake for 10โ12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft.
- Cool slightly before serving for best chewy texture.
Notes
- Do not overbake if you want soft and chewy cookies.
- Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
