Ingredients
- For the Meatloaf:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- For the Mac and Cheese:
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Lightly grease a 9ร13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, onion, egg, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth. Add the mustard powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, then stir in the cheddar and mozzarella until melted.
- Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce.
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and carefully drain any excess grease. Spread the mac and cheese evenly over the meatloaf layer.
- Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake for an additional 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
